private show he did at Mombo's place. Kim fixed the
best gourmet dinner for about 100 and me and john
chopped it up with some wine makers who were
pouring there own stash for us...The performance was
intimate, casual and spiced up with Slim's good humor,
we really had a good time. Slim played most all of his
hits and covered "Route 66" and "Makin' Whoopie".
Kevin Levi and George Hazelrig were fantastic and
during the sound check the band broke into
"Cashmere" by Led Zepplin...what a treat. I love it when
the smooth jazz guys mix-it up like that. I was talking to
Slim before the show and I mentioned Steve Oliver's
awesome cover of "Light My Fire" two nights previous,
then Slim one upped me and told me that he had seen
Jim and the Doors do it when he was a kid! Another
great night it was... 12am and its all over.
Mombo came down from the mountains to play with Slimmy & Marc Antoine. Awesome...
